Here is a piece by John Cooney called "Shadow-Line". John was born in Manchester and has written music for a wide array of ensembles and soloists including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, London Sinfonietta, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Nash Ensemble and Allegri String Quartet. His music has featured in the Aldeburgh, Spitalfields, and Bath festivals, and has been recorded for NMC Recordings.
His music often draws inspiration from poetry and visual art, and he has worked on a number of collaborative projects with writers, artists, actors and choreographers. His music has received several awards, including the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize, and he has held posts as Composer in Association with the Allegri String Quartet and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
John Cooney is well known for his work in music education and is currently Head of Composition at both the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department.
